I never expected to be a writer, but I love to tell stories. I have the best audience. A little boy once asked me, “How old is Sammy (the child in Fast Eddie)?” “Nine,” I replied. “No, he’s not!” he said. 'He's my age. He's eight." When a reader thinks he knows more about a story than the author and identifies with a character, that’s thrilling. It’s not my books that make me believe I can get the next one published. It’s that little boy.

Before I wrote children’s books, I was a professional photographer. This is one of my favorite images. I asked a boy on a Maine playground to try to kick my camera. I produced and scripted videos, CD ROMS, brochures and other multimedia dba Janet Wyman Coleman Productions. Clients included the Museum of Science (Boston), Northeastern University, Babson College and Decision Resources, Inc.
